Helps: when an expository text has to be understood, not skimmed: reading on paper gives slightly better comprehension than reading on screen, a small effect, largest for informational text

Backfires: when the job is hunting for typos and slips, which the one error-detection study found easier on screen, or when the page is read without actively checking each point, which lets an AI draft's errors through
